40th fundraising UPDATE and YouTube Option

With generous donors, our 40th fundraising total is now at $2,745.

We have our easy on-line Donation page where every donation receives  a charitable tax receipt. We've added a fun thermometer to track the progress of the donations too!

But we need to reach $15,000 to be able to do everything we want to celebrate our 40th year of song in the Ottawa/Outaouais region so please consider helping us reach our goal!

A fun way to help us raise funds is to listen to our music on our YouTube channel. Pierre and I have been working overtime to get new videos up and assemble 40th Fundraiser Playlists. (Thanks for the great idea, Rae!)

Just listen to our 40th Fundraiser Playlists and let YouTube pay us forward! All the videos on the playlists are monetized, so the choir gets reimbursed from YouTube when you watch and listen!

Door Prize Gift Baskets at each concert, thanks to local retailers!

 Years ago I got the idea of making up gift baskets to dress up our door prizes at our concerts.

At the reception after we always drew a name to award a CD to one of our audience members as a thank you. 

I discovered that there were many local retailers happy to help me make these baskets with their generous donations of everything I could need to make them!

 So, Thanks goes out this year to Fabricland on Merivale Rd. Sobey's, Starbucks, Second Cup, Home Depot in Barrhaven and Kit and Kaboodles in Nepean for all the donations of goodies and wrappings and trappings for my 2016 Gift Baskets!

SIX THINGS ... Concert love and the day after

               I Love This! Posted on Facebook just before the Concert by a fellow Stairweller. I want to know who wrote this because I have a  Blog post writing job here for you. Sorry, no remuneration of course.

Six things to look forward to tonight: 

1) Pucelete/Je languis/ Domino, A striking and historic medieval song with three separate melodies from when polyphonic music was new (you'll hear medieval tones in the harmonies)

2) O Jesu Christe, One of our favourite sacred pieces that (for some of us, at least) evokes mist rolling in and bells tolling at twilight. 

3) Spirited Italian and Spanish songs from the Renaissance, and drinking songs in French and German.

4) A reception of tasty treats - some healthy, some indulgent, some both 

5) Ambience: St Barnabas is gorgeous, with incredible acoustics, and if we have a thunderstorm, we promise it will enhance the music and experience! (also the church is nice and cool).

6) Presentation of a donation to charity and the awarding of two musical scholarships.

Right on all counts! 

I'm sure it brought in a few audience members out of the rain. 

 And oh, how it rained! When Pete gets those videos up on YouTube, listen for the thunderous downpour thrumming on the roof.
